Empowering Futures
Lilly Driscoll founded DE-MYS-TIFY in 2022, with the aim to support actors from low socio-economic backgrounds.
Sometimes it can feel impossible to find your way in the arts, especially when you feel like you have no industry connections. Working closely with our students, we navigate the nuances of being an actor, nurturing talent and enhancing skills. Every workshop is catered to demystifying the industry and breaking down barriers to participation.
With support and guidance from leading industry professionals, we go above and beyond your standard acting class, due to our bespoke way of working. Our 10-week course offers training developing stage and screen skills, looking at a variety of performance styles and methods. Students receive a free headshot session, a casting workshop, personalised wellbeing support and mentoring, and two industry showcases to help take the next steps in their journey.
The DE-MYS-TIFY 2024 summer term was fully funded by Arts Council England, meaning we could pay all participants to attend our weekly workshops.
In 2025, we unfortunately lost our funding. Wanting to continue the work, we organised a fundraiser which was held at BOLD Elephant, including performances by former students, with writing from Morgan Lloyd Malcolm, Anna Jordan, Abi Zakarian and more. We raised money from ticket sales, a well sort-after raffle, alongside a Crowdfunder campaign.
Our next project will be bigger than any project we’ve ever undertaken! And will be announced shortly, along with our new patrons.
